South Asian University (SAU):

South Asian University (established in 2010) is a joint initiative of the eight SAARC member nations—Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka— aimed at providing world-class education and fostering regional consciousness. The idea was proposed by the then Indian Prime Minister at the 2005 SAARC Summit to create a Centre of Excellence that offers top-tier facilities and professional faculty to students and researchers across South Asia. The university's mandate focuses on promoting understanding and regional awareness, nurturing a new class of quality leadership, and enhancing capacity building in crucial areas such as science, technology, and management. Located in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi, SAU offers Bachelor's, Master's, and Research programs in Applied and Social Sciences, fostering a multicultural and cosmopolitan environment. In the beginning it started with five faculties and currently, SAU plans to expand to 13 faculties, accommodating over 5000 students, thus enriching the campus with diverse and innovative ideas while preparing students with a distinctively South Asian perspective.
